The human (Homo sapiens) TRG locus on chromosome 7 spans 168 kilobases (kb). The orientation of the locus is reverse (REV) in the chromosome.
The human TRG locus consists of 12 TRGV genes belonging to 6 subgroups, 5 TRGJ genes and 2 TRGC genes [1-3].
The TRGV genes span 104 kilobases (kb), the TRGJ genes span 20 kilobases (kb) and the TRGC genes span 41 kilobases (kb).

The TRG genes are localized in 1 V-J-C-CLUSTER that includes 1 V-CLUSTER and 2 J-C-CLUSTER:
- The TRGV genes are localized in 1 V-CLUSTER and are upstream of a duplicated J-C-CLUSTER. It includes 14 TRGV gene belonging to 5 subgroups (6 genes are functional, 3 genes are ORF and 5 genes are pseudogene).
The TRGJ and TRGC genes are localized in 2 J-C-CLUSTER:
- the 5' J-C-CLUSTER includes 3 functional TRGJ and 1 functional TRGC gene.
- the 3' J-C-CLUSTER includes 2 functional TRGJ and 1 functional TRGC gene.

The human (Homo sapiens) TRGV genes are designated by a number.
There are 6 subgroups: the first subgroups includes TRGV1, TRGV2, TRGV3, TRGV4, TRGV5, TRGV5P, TRGV6, TRGV7 and TRGV8. The second subgroup includes the TRGV9, the third subgroup includes the TRGV10 and the fourth subgroup includes the TRGV11. The two last subgroups include the TRGVA and the TRGVB.

The human (Homo sapiens) TRGJ genes are designated by a number for the localization from 5' to 3' in each cluster.
The TRGJ1, TRGJP and TRGJP1 for the first J-C-CLUSTER, and TRGJ2 and TRGJP2 for the second J-C-CLUSTER.
