The human IGK locus is in reverse orientation: being located on the short arm, the 5' end of the locus is centromeric and the 3' end is telomeric.
In IMGT/GeneSearch, IMGT/GeneView and IMGT/LocusView:
The IGK locus localization (start and end: 39007-1717793 bp) and the gene positions are those in the clone contig which starts at the position 39007 of AP001214 and ends at the position 1717793 of AP001215.
The proximal V-CLUSTER (close to IGKC) and the distal V-CLUSTER are separated by ~800 kb.
The proximal V-CLUSTER is situated between position 1200000 and 1800000, and the distal V-CLUSTER is situated between position 0 and 600000.
Clones (in blue) are those used for the complete sequencing of the human IGK locus.
IGKV2D-19, IGKV2D-38, IGKV2-19: the 5' limit is that of the V-REGION, there is no L-PART1 and no L-PART2.
IGKV2-36, IGKV2D-36: the 5' limit is that of the V-REGION, there is no L-PART1 and no L-PART2. the 3' limit is that of the V-REGION, there is no V-RS (no V-NONAMER, no V-SPACER and no V-HEPTAMER).
IGKV2D-23: the 3' limit is that of the V-HEPTAMER, there is no V-SPACER and no V-NONAMER.
