Contig
A contig is a contiguous sequence or map obtained by assemblage of overlapping shorter sequences or clones, respectively.
A clone contig is an "artificial" reconstruction from overlapping clones of a given species. DNA comes from both 'maternal' and 'paternal' inherited chromosomes.
