Objectives

The IMGT Annotation Committee is responsible of the standardized data annotations of the immunoglobulins (IG), T cell receptors (TR) and major histocompatibility (MH) and related proteins of the immune system of human and other vertebrates in IMGT, the international ImMunoGeneTics information system® http://www.imgt.org [1].

IMGT annotations are according to the IMGT Scientific chart rules, based on the IMGT-ONTOLOGY concepts [2]

The IMGT Annotation Committee works in close collaboration with the IMGT Nomenclature Committee (IMGT-NC) for the coherence between gene and allele nomenclature, based on the CLASSIFICATION concept of IMGT-ONTOLOGY, and the other data annotations, based on the IDENTIFICATION, DESCRIPTION and NUMEROTATION concepts of IMGT-ONTOLOGY [3].

The IMGT Annotation Committee has a steering role for enhancing the interoperability in IMGT, and more particularly, with and between the following IMGT databases, Web resources and on-line tools:

IMGT Databases

IMGT Web resources (Web resources)

IMGT Tools

The IMGT Annotation Committee works in close collaboration with the IMGT Informatics Commitee and the IMGT Interface Commitee.
